Pétition destinée à l’Ambassadeur d’Espagne en France


Les soussignés dénoncent l’effroyable acte de cruauté que constitue la pratique du “Toro de Fuego”,  sur  taureau vivant,  qui perdure lors de festivités dans certaines villes espagnoles (en particulier à Pampelune). L’ignoble pratique qui consiste à placer sur les cornes d’un taureau des boules enduites de goudron et de térébenthine et de  les enflammer,  est une horrible maltraitance issue de temps obscurs et cruels, indigne d’une société civilisée.

Est-il admissible, à l’heure où nous construisons l’Europe, que l’on se réjouisse de rendre fou de douleur un taureau en enflammant ses cornes (particulièrement innervées), de telle sorte que l’animal tente désespérément d’échapper à son supplice et de faire cesser une douleur intense en se précipitant contre les murs pour essayer d’éteindre le feu ?

Cet acte perpétré contre un être sensible a pour résultat de le condamner à une lente et douloureuse agonie au cours de laquelle ses cornes, ses yeux, son corps se consument dans d’atroces douleurs,  pendant plusieurs heures, au milieu d’une foule en délire. Il est urgent que le gouvernement espagnol mette fin à ces pratiques d’un âge sombre et que la justice poursuive les auteurs et promoteurs d’un tel crime et d’un tel sadisme.

L’Article L.214-1 du Code Rural qui stipule que «Tout animal étant un être sensible doit être placé par son propriétaire dans des conditions compatibles avec les impératifs de son espèce».

Nous vous demandons Monsieur le Ministre de l’Alimentation, de l’Agriculture et de la Pêche, en urgence, l’abrogation de l’Annexe 1 de l’Arrêté du 25 octobre 1982 en son chapitre 2, paragraphe petit b, relatif aux conditions de garde, d’élevage et de parcage des animaux qui autorise la détention d’un animal de compagnie et assimilé sur un balcon prison, et ce afin que nul ne puisse sans prévaloir pour emprisonner de cette façon, son animal de compagnie.

Aujourd’hui cette loi nous semble être d’une époque révolue et notre sensibilité commune ne l’accepte plus. L’animal est devenu une préoccupation sociale suffisamment forte pour que vous vous interrogiez sur une nouvelle définition de son régime juridique, comme l’a déjà fait la plupart de nos voisins Européens. En effet, ces animaux sont détenus dans des conditions incompatibles avec leurs besoins physiologiques et ces éléments sont donc constitutifs de l’infraction de mauvais traitements à animal.

En attendant que cette abrogation soit votée et que la détention d’un animal enfermé sur un balcon prison soit interdite et reconnue comme une maltraitance et sanctionnée comme telle,

Nous vous demandons, Messieurs les Procureurs et Procureurs Adjoints de la République, une stricte application de l’Arrêté qui autorise ce mode de détention, subordonnant toutefois le propriétaire de l’animal maltraité à un certain nombre de conditions et d’obligations.

Tout manquement aux conditions et obligations énoncées dans l’Arrêté peut-être qualifié de mauvais traitement au sens de L’Article R.654-1 du nouveau Code Pénal, punissant le propriétaire maltraitant à une amende.

The life of a racetrack greyhound is sad and miserable, and it's encouraging to know greyhound racing is on its way out in America. But at the same time it's disturbing to hear that Vietnam plans to expand this cruel business over there.

GREY2K USA learned last month of plans to open tracks throughout Vietnam and Cambodia, along with an intent to breed the dogs there as well.

Already evidence has surfaced revealing how these dogs are treated. Video footage, said to be of the kennels at the Vung Tau racetrack, shows them in stacked warehouse-style cages with hardly enough room to stretch out or turn around.

Put down that Chinese herbal tea! Not only is it likely to contain some dangerous toxins, it's also likely to contain the DNA of an endangered Asiatic bear or Saiga antelope.

That's right, folks. Endangered species are being killed and used as ingredients in traditional Chinese medicines, according to articles in the New York Times and New Zealand Herald. Australian border officials seized a quantity of traditional teas, powders, and capsules that were manufactured in China and sent them to a nearby university to be analyzed. They found not only toxic plant ingredients, but also the DNA of animals known to be perilously close to extinction.

This matters because traditional Chinese therapies are currently a multi-million dollar industry, and the products are distributed around the world. Tell China to clean up its act and protect endangered species!

Federal agencies are currently reviewing the permit application for the SunWest-Harbourtowne channel project and are being asked to sign off on a dredging operation that would cause unprecedented destruction to Florida's Gulf Coast natural resources. The nearly five-mile-long, 85-foot-wide channel would cut through the seagrass of Fillman Bayou and invite traffic from hundreds of boats every day.

Fillman Bayou is one of the largest intact coastal ecosystems left in Florida. It supports seagrass beds that provide vital nursery and feeding habitat to many Gulf species, including Florida manatees and game fish. And there's no evidence the channel is needed: the newly reopened Hernando Beach channel is wider, deeper and shorter than this proposal -- saving time and fuel for boaters.

Take action now to tell the Army Corps of Engineers and other decision-makers that this unnecessary project is not in the public interest: deny the permit.

Je demande que la réglementation des étiquettes sur les produits que nous consommons (alimentation, produits d'hygiène, produits de nettoyage, cosmétiques etc....) soit changée, dans tous les commerces confondus (épiceries, grands surfaces, pharmacie etc)

Que les produits qui n'ont pas été testé d'une façon ou d'une autre sur des animaux soient étiquetés obligatoirement. Nous ne sommes pas informés, et il est en mon droit de vous demander de savoir comment le produit a été conçu, testé et validé. Quand je parle : “non testé sur les animaux” je parle bien sur que les matières premières achetées à des entreprises françaises ou étrangères n’ont pas étaient testés sur animaux, ainsi que l’entreprise qui va fabriquer ce produit ne le testera en aucune façon sur des animaux. que toute la chaine du fabrication du produit de A jusqu’à Z et sans testage sur animaux en aucune façon.

De plus en plus de personnes se renseignent sur les produits et n'achètent que des produits non testés mais il faut une réglementation obligatoire et nationale pour tous les produits français et même venant de l'étranger.

Je ne veux pas consommer de la souffrance, je veux consommer en étant informée de ce que j'achète!

China has already lost one cetacean, the Yangtze River dolphin or baiji, which is almost certainly extinct. Now another one in the same river is in grave danger. The Yangtze River has the only freshwater porpoises in the world and there are only about a thousand left.

Threats to the finless porpoise come from boat traffic, with boat collisions causing fatal injuries, illegal fishing methods, a changing climate and pollution. The porpoises cannot cope, and numbers are declining rapidly. Post mortems on dead porpoises showed that some had apparently died of starvation.

Most of these threats are preventable. However, if nothing is done, scientists estimate the porpoise will be extinct within 15 years.

China must take action now to prevent yet another charismatic animal disappearing from the world.

Elephants are supposed to be protected under a UN agreement that bans the international trade of ivory. But, some African countries regularly request exemptions to sell their ivory, creating demand that's led to a black market that's deadly for elephants.

Already in 2012, in just a single national park in Cameroon, between 300 and 650 elephants have been killed for their tusks. The total estimated population is just 3,000-5,000 in the entire country.

Last year there were an unprecedented number of seizures of illegal ivory. But the ivory trade -- and the elephant poaching that feeds it -- is on the rise worldwide. Leaders in the European Union need to stand up for elephants and do something about it.

Help end cruel foie gras production

The production of pâté de foie gras involves force-feeding ducks and geese by thrusting a long pipe down the birds’ throats and pumping an unnatural quantity of food directly into their stomachs.

Plans have been revealed for an industrial-sized foie gras production facility, to house millions of geese, in China.

Rightly, this terrible practice of force feeding is widely condemned around the world and is prohibited it in much of Europe including the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Italy and Poland, as well as Argentina, Israel and in the U.S. state of California.

L'utilisation d'animaux pour les tests sur cosmétiques est cruelle & on doit y mettre fin. Aujourd'hui, il y a des méthodes de substitution qui n'impliquent pas la souffrance animale.

Il est choquant de considérer qu'aujourd'hui encore, il n'existe aucune reconnaissance mondiale et intergouvernementale de l'importance d'une législation sur le bien-être animal. IFAW pense que cela doit changer, c'est pourquoi nous soutenons la Déclaration universelle pour le bien-être animal (UDAW). L'adoption de cette déclaration formelle à l'Assemblée générale des Nations Unies placerait le bien-être des animaux à l'ordre du jour des discussions politiques mondiales.

C'est la Société mondiale pour la protection des animaux (WSPA) qui est à l'origine de cette déclaration lancée en 2000. IFAW participe au comité directeur de l'UDAW et collabore avec d'autres organismes de défense des animaux pour promouvoir cette Déclaration.

La Déclaration est un moyen important qui permet aux gouvernements d'exprimer leur engagement envers la protection des animaux ; c'est un tremplin vital vers des changements dans les politiques nationales et internationales et la législation sur les animaux. Elle contribuerait à renforcer l'application des mesures de protection des animaux et à promouvoir un traitement humain des animaux partout dans le monde.

Every year in Iceland, thousands and thousands of critically endangered fin whales are killed for their meat, by an Icelandic whaling company, called Hvalur. Kristjan Loftsson, the big boss of Hvalur exports this whale meat to Japan, where it is considered tastier than Minke whale meat.

However, there is a dying market for whale meat in Japan. If every single one of us can sign this petition, then we could help end this cruel slaughter forever.

Eating dog meat is widely regarded as uncivilized in Thailand, but smugglers in northeastern Tae Rae export an estimated 30,000 strays to Vietnam every month, at a price of $10 per head. In Vietnam, grilled dog meat sells for three times the price of pork.

Stray dogs are corralled daily and crammed into wire cages before being smuggled through illegal river borders. Though most are exported to Vietnam, a minority are butchered and sold as "meat" in Thai open markets. Local residents complain about the disgusting practice.

According to Wit, the boss of a dog collecting crew, "We have to pay the police to leave us alone."

Exporting strays for the dog meat trade or selling dog meat in local markets is cruel, illegal and disturbing to most Thailand residents. Please sign the petition to encourage Tae Rae authorities to crack down on the dog meat trade. »

In 2004 despite the (then) labour government's assurances that they would be reducing animal testing in this country, they went ahead, despite virulent protest from animal rights campaigners, to build the largest animal testing facility in Europe. This being housed within what is supposed to be the centre of learning and enlightenment, Oxford University!

Oxford University began work to build their new £18 million animal torture lab in early 2004, just weeks after the announcement by Cambridge University that they were to abandon their plans to build Europes largest primate lab due to the protests that had been held against them and their rising security costs.

Right from the beginning Oxford University have been less than truthful about this new building and what will happen inside, the animals are kept locked away within what is a virtually a fortress.

Polish authorities will likely approve the killing of a herd of 25 rare European bison infected with tuberculosis. But is this necessary?
A spokesperson for a group of 18 experts who met in Krosno to decide the herd's fate, told Associated Press it was a painful decision to which there’s no alternative if other herds are to be protected.

However, news reports don't say whether these experts considered the success of at least one herd of infected bison living in Canada’s Wood Buffalo National Park. Located in the Northwest Territory, the park includes a Bison Control Area to prevent the spread of disease to uninfected herds elsewhere.

Although numbers at Wood Buffalo declined from 1971 to 1999, in 2002 the herd’s size doubled. So far, says Canada’s Environment and Natural Resources, there’s no explanation for the increase.

Tell Poland at least look into this situation and exhaust all alternatives (including vaccinating other herds) before killing these rare bison!

Des Stalles Cruelles et inhumaires : A travers l'Europe, des millions de porcs passent près de 300 jours par an à l'intérieur de ces cages de métal, du premier jour où les truies sont enceintes jusqu'à la semaine avant l'accouchement.

Il est temps de banir ces stalles. Et en Europe, à partir du 1er janvier 2013, il sera illégal de les utiliser, A L'EXCEPTION des 4 premières semaines de grossesse. C'est déjà une avancée pour le bien être des porcs.

Mais cette loi est pourtant en danger : Le gouvernement polonais a révélé que 2000 fermes ne seront pas prètes à temps pour cette échéance. laissant des milliers de cochons souffrir illégalement dans des cages. Cela ne doit pas arriver.

Nous demandons d'écrire aux principales organisations de fermiers de pologne pour qu'elles s'assurent que leur membres sont au courant de cette interdiction et prennent les mesures appropriées. La Pologne a déjà 2 fois plus de fermes ne remplissant pas ces conditions que n'importe quelle nation de l'UE.

The deadline for the full implementation of Directive 2008/120/EC on the protection of pigs: group housing of sows is 1st January 2013.

From this date group housing will be compulsory in all pig holdings containing 10 or more sows.

Article 3(4) of the Directive specifically requires that sows and gilts are kept in groups during a period starting from 4 weeks after service to 1 week before the expected time of farrowing.

This requirement for the group housing of sows was adopted in 2001 and a long transitional period granted to member states and producers to adapt. Poland agreed to implement the directive on its accession to the EU in 2004.

It is thus with grave concern that I note that the Polish Government has reported that they expect over 2,000 sites in Poland to not be compliant on time.

Please can you urgently inform your members:

Of the obligation of all pig producers to ensure that they comply on time and in full, with the provision of group housing for sows.
Of the additional requirements of the Directive, including ensuring that sows and gilts are provided with manipulable materials to enable them to engage in their investigation and manipulation activities; ensuring provision for pregnant sows of a sufficient quantity of bulky or high-fibre food to prevent hunger, as well as ensuring the provision of an area of continuous solid flooring.

A l'attention de Monsieur le Directeur de l'hôpital de Saint-Quentin
Monsieur le Directeur,
L’hôpital de Saint-Quentin abrite depuis des années une colonie de chats errants. Ces chats, non entretenus et non stérilisés, prolifèrent et sont globalement en mauvaise santé.
L’hôpital de Saint-Quentin, territoire privé, a été démarché à maintes reprises par des associations locales de protection animale (SPA et Saint-Quentin Félins) afin de réguler cette population de chats dont il est responsable. Les solutions proposées sont simples, éthiques et recommandées par les plus grands organismes nationaux. Elles ont fait leurs preuves dans de nombreux établissements de santé ou municipalités qui vivent à présent en harmonie avec quelques chats sous contrôle et ne sont plus envahis. D'un point de vue scientifique, elles sont à présent reconnues comme les seules valables à long terme.
Au mépris total de la cause animale, les interlocuteurs que nous avons rencontrés ont clairement annoncé leur intention d'exterminer ces chats, au nom de ce qu'ils estiment être "la solution la meilleure possible". Un personnel de l'hôpital, piégeur agréé, a déjà commencé les captures et prétend avoir emmené ces chats à la SPA locale. Dans la mesure où ceux-ci n'y sont jamais arrivés, il n’est pas bien difficile de deviner le sort qu'ont connu ces pauvres bêtes.
Nous, signataires de cette pétition, demandons que ces pratiques barbares soient immédiatement suspendues et que l’hôpital accepte les mesures de stérilisation/identification/relâchage qui lui ont été proposées.

Le refuge SPA de Poitiers est dans une situation critique!

L’association connaît une situation financière difficile (plus d’abandons, moins de dons), elle est impactée par les travaux de la ligne LGV Tours Bordeaux: les bâtiments détruits devraient être reconstruits mais il n’y a aucun engagement sur le planning, et pas de solution d’hébergement pour les animaux pendant la durée des travaux, enfin le refuge qui s’occupe de la fourrière depuis des années risque de ne plus se voir confiée le contrat de fourrière au bénéfice d’une société privée …. C’est pourquoi, afin d’être crédible face aux collectivités, aux entreprises nous souhaitons lancer une pétition de soutien au refuge SPA de Poitiers afin d’avoir davantage de poids lors des négociations.

Taiwan has earned a bad reputation for cruelty toward animals and leniency toward clear animal rights violations. On May 2, 2012, animal rights activists in Taipai proposed an independant agency dedicated to protecting the rights of animals.

Currently, the Council of Agriculture (CoA) handles animal rights protection as well as livestock, foresty and fishing issues. Unfortunately, having the same agency handle livestock and animal protections creates a conflict of interest. A separate agency with enough resources and funds to handle animal rights issues would ensure better treatment for the country's animals.
